You can't download more RAM, but you can now download better gaming performance if you're the owner of a modern Ryzen desktop CPU. AMD recently announced that it has collaborated with Microsoft to optimize Ryzen CPUs, and the fruits of their labor are now available in the form of a Windows 11 update.

The update, originally planned for the upcoming Windows 11 version 24H2, has been backported to the current 23H2 version. This means you don't have to wait for the next major update to enjoy the benefits. The patch, known as KB5041587, is available under Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.

Early benchmarks show that the performance improvements are significant. For instance, users with the Ryzen 7700X have reported a 10% boost in gaming performance at 1080p, while those with the latest Ryzen 9700X have seen an 11% improvement on average. These gains are particularly noticeable in gaming scenarios, making this update a must-have for Ryzen users.

The optimization focuses on AMD-specific branch prediction code, which had previously led to underwhelming performance in AMD's latest Zen 5 CPUs. With the new update, these issues are addressed, and users can expect a smoother, faster gaming experience.

So, if you're using a Ryzen 5000, 7000, or 9000 series CPU, it's time to head to your Windows Update settings and install KB5041587. Your gaming rig will thank you!
